Once upon a time, you could get a top-of-the-line Maruti WagonR for 5 lakh rupees. However, this was 10 years ago. Nowadays, a small hatchback with all the bells and whistles would cost you over 7 lakhs. Maruti Suzuki knows their customers and has decided to come up with the rather inexpensive Dream edition. This edition is available on the Celerio, Alto and the S-Presso.

What’s Special About The Dream Edition?

With the rise in compact SUV sales, Maruti Suzuki had to find a way to boost sales for their conventional hatchbacks. The Dream edition is their answer. The Dream edition is offered on the lower variants. The edition includes additional features, that you wouldn’t expect in lower variants. Following is the list of extra features that can be availed –

Accessories on the Celerio LXI Dream-

  • Reverse Parking Camera
  • Pioneer multimedia system
  • Speaker

Accessories on the S-Presso VXI+ Dream –

  • Reverse Parking Camera
  • Speaker
  • Security systems
  • Several aesthetic elements like interior styling kit and body cladding.

Accessories on the Alto VXI+ dream series-

  • Reverse parking camera
  • Security system

The S-Presso seems to have a healthy amount of aesthetic features on offer like body cladding, interior styling kit, skid plate, chrome garnish etc. Whilst, the Celerio and Alto get essential features that you may not expect at this price point. The only competition Maruti Suzuki faces is from the Kwid, which offers lower value for money than the dream edition.

How Much Will The “Dream” Cost?

Maruti Suzuki’s main intention is to divert the focus of the Indian public towards the small hatchbacks. With the market shifting towards premium hatchbacks and compact SUVs, people seem to neglect the affordable cars on the market. Maruti Suzuki has released this series to garner attention towards these specific models while models like the WagonR and Swift maintain consistent sales figures.

The dream edition starts at a mere 4.99 lakh rupees, while the on-road price can rise to 5.5 lakh rupees depending on your city. For perspective, the equivalent Celerio LXI would cost you more than 6.25 lakh rupees. Suzuki has priced the Dream series aggressively and it is likely to attract several customers. The production of the Dream edition will last throughout the month of June and cease after the month ends. So if you are on the car hunt on a strict budget, make sure you don’t miss out on this offer.
