Mahindra faced criticism for their under-equipped XUV300, but a month ago, they launched the updated version called the XUV 3XO. With waiting periods exceeding 6 months, this SUV is selling well. But how does it fare in the crowded sub-4 meter segment? Let’s see what the XUV 3XO has to offer.

Exterior:

The exterior of the XUV 3XO is visually appealing. While opinions may vary on the front design, the side and rear of the car are particularly attractive. The top variant includes 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, there are connected taillights and a redesigned skid plate and bumper.

Interior:

The interior has been revamped with new features and uses high-quality materials, including leather on the dashboard and piano black trims. It features new, premium controls for the AC and plush white upholstery. This makes it the most airy interior in its segment. Moving to the rear, passengers enjoy ample space and superior headroom compared to the Nexon. Additional features include rear AC vents, charging ports, and a rear centre armrest.

Features:

The XUV 3XO features one of the best touchscreen and instrument clusters in its segment, both 10 inches in size, offering high-quality displays with crisp information. It boasts several standout features including a segment-first panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and a premium 7-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

Safety:

The old XUV300 was already a 5-star rated safe car, and the new one has stepped up the game with level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, 3-point seat belts for all seats, all-disc brakes, and electronic stability control.

Engine:

The XUV 3XO lineup features a variety of powertrains: starting with a 111 HP, 1.2L turbo-petrol engine in base models, moving up to a 131 HP, 1.2L direct injection turbo-petrol unit in higher-spec versions. Additionally, nearly all variants offer a 117 HP, 1.5L diesel engine. Transmission options include both manual and automatic, with the MStallion engine paired with the new AISIN 6-speed automatic transmission.

How Does It Compare In The Sub-4 Meter Segment?

The 3XO has a lot of potential to be a game-changer in its segment. Despite missing features like powered seats, ventilated seats and having less boot space, the XUV 3XO shines with its strong positives like excellent engines, appealing looks, and a premium cabin experience. It has significantly disrupted the under-4-meter SUV segment with a staggering 50,000 bookings within just one hour of its launch.
