Tata Altroz Racer to launch on June 7 as confirmed by a new teaser. Bookings for the hatch are already open and it will be offered in three trims and colour options, all of which are different from the standard car. Also different will be its styling, features list and the powertrain.

Design:

While the overall silhouette of the Altroz remains unchanged; Tata has added stripes, ‘Racer’ badging and a dual-tone hue to up the ante on its sporty quotient. The Altroz was already a sporty-looking hatchback, and the dual-tone theme along with the white stripes do a good job of further accentuating that.

There are other changes too, in the form of a slightly revised grille and dual-tip exhaust, which has been spotted on the test mules. It still sits on 16-inch wheels but they are now blacked out, and it also gets a roof spoiler that rounds up all the exterior changes.

It will be available in three dual-tone shades: Atomic Orange, Avenue White, and Pure Grey.

Interior:

Inside, you’ll get a similar layout, but will immediately notice the bigger 10.25-inch infotainment system. That is one of the many feature additions, but you’ll also notice the orange inserts all around the cabin, which match the new exterior hue on the outside. We aren’t sure if it’ll get matching white and grey inserts with the other two hues just yet.

Features:

The Altroz Racer will be getting some new features over the existing Altroz.

  • Bigger 10.25″ infotainment screen
  • Heads-Up display
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Digital drivers display
  • 360-Degree cameras
  • Six-Airbags

PowerTrain:

While the Altroz Racer gets a bunch of visual changes and feature additions, the main attraction will undoubtedly be the Nexon-sourced 120 PS/170 Nm 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. It’ll be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission only, and an automatic option could be offered sometime post its launch.

Pricing:

We expect the Altroz Racer to command a premium over the existing top-end pricing of the Altroz, which goes up to Rs 10.79 lakh (ex-showroom) and it will fight the Hyundai i20 N line directly.
